    • Empowering Faith, Ensuring Security

It is imperative for the Diocese of Paterson to provide robust security measures to protect its parishioners from the dangers of cyber threats and hacking incidents. Parishioners entrust their personal information, financial details, and spiritual interactions to the Church, making them vulnerable targets for cybercriminals seeking to exploit vulnerabilities for malicious purposes. By implementing small and simple but ultimately huge effective changes, your parish can become hardened against the a vast majority of attackers. Furthermore, educating parishioners about the dangers of giftcard scams, impersonations, and online fraud empowers them to recognize potential threats and take proactive measures to protect themselves against cyber attacks. We want your church community to feel safe and trust that their personal info and finances are in good hands, whether they're online or offline. By being vigilant against cybercrime, we're making sure our faith community stays strong and connected, without worrying about digital threats. We're here to protect and support everyone, so they can focus on what matters most: their faith and community.

    • The Diocese's Top 5 Tips

      1. Get a good anti-virus
        • TechSpoup offers heavily discounted anti-viruses and we will help installing it if needed (every Parish has an account, contact us for help)
      2. Get iDrive/M365 backups
        • If you get hacked or if your computer fails the best thing we can do is restore everything and have you go back to normal operations very quickly
        • If you don't have this there is no guarantee we can recover your data
      3. Enable 2 factor authentication
        • If a hacker gets your password they still wont be able to get in
        • You can either get a text or the authenticator app
      4. Get a password manager
        • There are free password managers out there and you can use them to make huge secure passwords for all of your needs and the passwords will never be the same!
        • Do not trust Firefox Chrome or edge/Internet Explorer
        • Set up reminders to change your passwords from time to time. stagnant passwords always get leaked one way or another please keep up to date with yours!
      5. Purchase a physical firewall
        • They are quite cheap, and they are loads more effective compared to the one your internet service provider has. Depending on the size of your parish they can cost anywhere from $189.00 to $400.00.
        • The updates are free, automatically done without you noticing, and they last quite a long time!
