The Diocese of Paterson Confidential Clergy Assistance Program (CAP) provides access to counseling services for diocese clergy because it recognizes that even the most dedicated are vulnerable to stress and need to take measures to maintain their mental health and well-being. Clergy who neglect self-care can find themselves feeling overwhelmed by the endless needs of others and their unfailing, selfless dedication can lead to emotional exhaustion, burnout, and guilt. Because the Diocese cares about the well being of its clergy, it is providing this safe and confidential avenue for clergy to access help and discuss feelings they may not feel comfortable discussing anywhere else.
